Dietitian and patient discussing an eating plan in a consulting room

Nutrition advice you can actually live on.

A registered dietitian is the only nutrition professional legally able to provide medical nutrition therapy in South Africa. Anja works from your bloods, your history and — importantly — the food you already cook.

What we help with

Referred, self-referred, or just finally fed up.

Roughly two thirds of the people who see Anja come without a referral. These are the reasons they most often give.

  • Type 2 diabetes and pre-diabetes
  • Type 1 diabetes and carb counting
  • High cholesterol and blood pressure
  • Irritable bowel syndrome and low-FODMAP
  • Reflux, bloating and food intolerance
  • Coeliac disease
  • Weight loss and weight gain
  • Polycystic ovary syndrome
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding nutrition
  • Fussy eating and childhood growth
  • Iron deficiency and anaemia
  • Sports and endurance nutrition

Not on the list? Phone reception on 021 300 4590 — if dietetics is not the right starting point we will say so, and point you at whoever is.

Dietitian reviewing food choices with a client

Your first appointment

An hour, and no meal plan handed to you at the end.

The first consultation runs a full hour. Anja takes a medical and weight history, goes through your recent bloods if you have them, and spends most of the time on what you actually eat in an ordinary week — including the parts people usually leave out.

  • Bring your bloods if you have them. Anything from the last six months helps — HbA1c, lipids, iron studies, thyroid. If you don't have any, we will tell you what to ask your GP for.
  • Body composition, if it is useful. Bioelectrical impedance is included in the initial consultation where it adds something. It is not used to make anyone feel worse.
  • You leave with two or three changes. Not a printed 1,400-calorie plan. Changes you can make this week, and a review date to see whether they held.

Dietetics fees

Published, and the same for everyone.

We submit directly to most medical-aid schemes. Where your plan covers dietetics from a savings or day-to-day benefit, you pay only the shortfall.

Fees include the written plan and one follow-up question by email or WhatsApp between appointments. How medical-aid billing works →
