Seasonality

When you marry
changes the price

Harvest runs from late January into March, and the farm is at its busiest and its prettiest at the same time. A Saturday in that window costs more because it is the one everybody wants.

A Thursday in June, with the fires lit in the cellar, costs the least and is — quietly — what we would book ourselves.

Seasonal adjustment on the package price
Period Fri & Sat Sun – Thu
Oct – Mar+20%Listed price
Apr & SepListed price−10%
May – Aug−10%−20%

A 30% deposit holds the date. The balance is due fourteen days before.

  • Not included: catering, flowers, photography, music and cake — all booked directly with your suppliers, so you pay them their price and not ours.
  • Corkage: none on estate wine. R95 a bottle on anything else, and we would rather you brought your grandfather’s port than not.
  • Music stops at midnight outdoors and 01h00 in the Cellar. Dried petals and bubbles are welcome; confetti and rice are not.

Preferred suppliers

People who have
worked here before

You are not obliged to use any of them. They are simply the people who know where the plugs are, how long the walk from the chapel takes, and what the light does at five o’clock in March.

Photography

Marlize du Toit

Documentary, no posed group shots unless you ask. Has shot forty weddings here.

Florals & styling

Stoep & Stem

Cut from their own beds in Wellington. Fynbos in winter, garden roses in summer.

Catering

Kelder Kitchen

Our own kitchen, on the farm. Open fire, one menu a season, everything served family style.

Music & sound

Bergwind Audio

DJ, live band or both. They already know the Cellar’s acoustics and its curfew.

Planning

Anja Roux Events

Full planning or month-of coordination, for couples doing this from another country.

Cake

Suikerbos Patisserie

Paarl. Naked cakes, croquembouche, and a milk tart that has ended more than one argument.

Come and walk it

Viewings are Tuesday to Thursday, 10h00 and 15h00. Bring whoever is paying and whoever is worrying.

Demonstration site. Veldlicht Estate is a fictional business created to show what a Travers & Co. wedding and function venue website looks like. Photography is stock; the reviews, prices and contact details are invented.
